City People Awards EFCC the Most Effective Government Agency in Nigeria


The EFCC on Sunday 2nd April 2017, won the most effective government agency in Nigeria award at the 20th City People Awards for Excellence held at Airport Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos.

EFCC acting Chairman, Ibrahim Magu says we will get them,Diezani and her clique


EFCC acting Chairman, Ibrahim Magu, appeared before the senate this morning for screening and confirmation.
While answering questions from Senators, Magu said former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Dieziani Alison-Madueke, who is being investigated for engaging in corrupt practices while in office, ran off to London with her clique but that the agency will work to get them arrested.
He also stated that he does not know the exact amount the agency has recovered from persons accused of looting public funds. See more of what he said during his screening after the cut.

The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project, SERAP, recently wrote a letter to Mr Michel Forst, the UN Rapporteur on situation of human rights defenders on Senate’s refusal to confirm Mr Ibrahim Magu as chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, claiming political and other concocted reasons for the said refusal.

Ibrahim Magu rejected as nomination for EFCC chairman by Nigerian senate


Senators this morning rejected the nomination of Ibrahim Magu as the Chairman of antigraft agency, EFCC. According to the senate spokesperson, Magu was rejected because of a security report it received. Details of the security report was however not disclosed.

Senators Dino Melaye and the Majority leader of the house, Ali Ndume, exchanged hot words when Magu's screening was called up. Ndume who is from Borno as Magu, was in support of his confirmation while Melaye was totally against it. Magu has been serving in acting capacity since November 2015.
