Forty-eight hours after the Ogun State government announced its plan to inaugurate a Truth Commission to look into various issues in the state in the last eight years, the former governor, Gbenga Daniel Wednesday disclosed his readiness to appear before the commission.
Mr Daniel made this known even when he is yet to be invited by the commission which is yet to commence operations, just as he further declared that he wholeheartedly welcomes the idea of the Truth Commission as announced by his successor.www.mannastores.com
The former governor, through his media assistant, Gbenro Adebanjo in a statement in Abeokuta, also congratulated the incumbent governor, Ibikunle Amosun on the successful completion of his first 100 days in office.
“As we await the terms of reference, Otunba Daniel wishes to confirm his full participation and his personal attendance at the hearing. We, however, believe that to do justice, he will require at least one week to give his testimony with opportunity for multimedia presentations, and live coverage of the proceedings by both the local TV stations and at least a national TV.
“It is also important that all of the proceedings and testimonies should be conducted openly, with all issues allowed for discussion,” Mr Daniel posited, just as he stated that he believes the commission will afford Nigerians to know the truth.
Mr Daniel while congratulating Mr Amosun, also prayed that God will grant the governor wisdom to continue to successfully steer the ship of the state, while praising the composition of the commission. “We notice that the commission is composed of men of proven integrity capable of ensuring justice in this sensitive assignment,” Mr Daniel added.
