HOW TO GROW YOUR BUSINESS ONLINE

This shouldn’t come as a surprise anymore, that the major market for any goods and services is the internet. Over 4 billion people are connected to the internet. Just imagine, half of the whole world is just some clicks away from you. I have been privileged to run multi-million dollars online businesses. However, this article is not to focus on how I online businesses alone, but all businesses in general.
I stand to be corrected, no matter what business you are running, your ideal customer is on the internet. The problem people have is that they don’t know how to identify who their customers are online. This article is to give you a system on how you can promote your business online.

•    Create a sales funnel- A sales funnel is an illustration that shows you the journey your ideal prospects go through on their way to becoming your customers. When you advertise your products/services online, thousands of people see your ad, but only a fraction of those people will provide you with their information and later become leads. So, your sales funnel will help you track your interaction with these people and as such give you the ability to nurture and groom them.
•    Develop contents- In as much as we say getting your ideal customer on the internet is quite easy, you have to create value. This is necessary because two reasons 1- It shows that you are a don in that area of specialty. If you make furniture and you just come online and say “Hey guys, I make furniture, come and buy from me”. You should know the way people would react to that. However, imagine telling people “Hey guys, here are 5 steps to protect your furniture during summer to avoid wear and tear. If you need help on your furniture call 0700 *****” You should know who would be patronized. 2- You are building a community of your own. People will buy from you if they trust you. Building content and creating value helps builds customer trust and loyalty.
•    Get Knowledge- All of the most successful entrepreneurs I know are all readers. They constantly seek knowledge. If you want to grow your business online, read books that talk about promoting businesses online, because the world is constantly changing, and I bet you, you don’t want to be left behind. Read books, attend seminars, attend webinars, listen to podcasts etc… Whatever you do, seek knowledge.
•    Evolve- As I said above, the world is changing and you I bet, don’t want to be left behind so you have to evolve with new trends and new ways of doing business. Let me give you an example- Where is Blackberry? As at early 2006-2007 when companies started to make phones using the Android OS, Blackberry didn’t flinch, they kept doing their thing. Then WhatsApp came onboard and those who needed to Blackberry to Ping could do so on WhatsApp without buying Blackberry Internet Service (BIS). Still, Almighty Blackberry did nothing to evolve with the market demands. So, I ask again, where is Blackberry? When growing your business online, listen to your market and evolve with the world.
