A Kado Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, on Tuesday
sentenced a 30-year-old man , Teslim Shittu to two months in prison for
breaking into a car and stealing a digital camera.
The judge, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq, however, gave
Shittu an option of N10, 000 fine and warned him to desist from committing
crime.
The convict, who was arraigned on a charge of
stealing, pleaded guilty and prayed the court to temper justice with mercy.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Mr Salisu Khaleel told the
court that Cpl. Madaki Markus, attached to the Utako Police Station, Abuja,
arrested Shittu on March 29.
Khaleel said that on the fateful day, the convict
criminally trespassed into a Honda Accord car and stole a digital camera and
was caught in the act.
The prosecutor said that the offence committed
contravened Section 288 of the Penal Code.
