A 42-year old truck driver, Joseph Omale, was on Wednesday
admitted to N 50,000 bail by an Gudu Upper Area Court, Abuja, for alleged
damage to a BMW jeep through reckless driving.
The Judge, Alhaji Umar Kagarko, ordered the defendant to
produce one surety who must reside within the court’s jurisdiction as part of
the bail condition.
Kagardo adjourned the case till June 23 for hearing.
Omale of Tunga Maje in Abuja was arraigned for allegedly
causing an accident by dangerous driving.
The Prosecutor, Urom Otu, told the court that one Adegeye
Adetona of Guzape, Abuja, reported the matter at the Garki Police Station on
March 29.
Otu said the defendant, who drove a KingKau Truck along Bala
Mohammed Avenue by Gilmor Junction, Garki, Abuja, ran into the rear of the
complaint’s BMW Jeep on the said date.
The prosecutor said the BMW got damaged as a result of the
accident.
He said that the jeep cost N6.2 million.
Otu said the offence contravened Section 28 of the Road
Traffic Act.
The defendant pleaded not guilty.
