I have been thinking of late about the people in Europe Germany to be
precise and Nigerians. I have been trying to know who is more ambitious
and daring.i have taken time to study Europeans and ofcourse I know so
much about my people. I have discovered that the Europeans are not as
ambitious and daring as Nigerians? I say this because from my findings a
European can do a particular job for the rest if his life and live an
average life for ever without having to be rich or very rich because the
Government have provided the enabling environment and basic amenities
like good roads, electricity, fantastic healthcare which makes you get
treated even though u don't have cash so long you have health
insurance, so for that reason, he just lives within his means and can stay
ok for life so long he pays his bills plus not having too many
attachments from brothers, sisters, parents and in laws if there is at all
who also have some comfort already as a result of the system and in
case where there is no job they get unemployment allowance which helps
them get by till they can find a job and in a system where a lady
delivers a baby,the mother and the baby gets support from the
government,the struggle is less.this reduces the tendencies for
corruption and stealing because people stay withing thier means.Now take
this case study for an example.I am in Nigeria paying rents anuualy
while my an average European who has a good job and earns a salary gets
the same house on Mortgage and pays the mortgage, while i am paying
rent, he is servicing his loan and maybe i do this for 10 years, i would
have thrown all that moneys away while a fellow European is paying his
mortgage. Come to Africa, Nigeria as a classic example. the average
Nigerian is his own security, electricity, i can not even calculate how
much I have spent in fuel since I started taking care of my self, no good
health care and very poor education, it's hard for the people to stay
average as it's either you are rich or you are poor, the ones who manage
to make some money have too many attachment from parents,siblings and in
laws who have failed mostly because of the untold hardship put on them
as a result of poor Leadership so it becomes soooooo hard to just focus
on your salary or one source of income.thats why you have a situation in
nigeria where one man is a banker, the same man is into to oil and
gas, agriculture, plus corruption because that is the most lucrative
business in Nigeria, for example in my constituency where you find a
journalist who doubles as a club manager,tv and radio programmers
presenter,producer and marketer and sometimes involves in players
management and sometimes buying and selling all because you have to meet
up with terrible expenses and provide for your self and too many people
who have been defeated by the system. That is why the popular Comedian Jullius D Genuis Agu said
that when Nigerians are given leave at work, instead of them to take a
trip somewhere to relax and refresh, they will go and by okrika and start
selling in order to use their free time from work to make some cash
instead of holidaying which is the purpose of the leave lol. When you see
sports journalist from other parts of the world at international
tournament, you will be wondering if you are also a sports
journalist, these guys are able to focus on thier jobs because they can
pay thier bills and stay ok as the Government over there have done their
bit? That is why the biggest business in Nigeria today is
corruption. amongst 10 Nigerians 8 are yahoo boys and the remaining 2 are
one way or the other involved in bribes and some maybe more beautiful
corrupt practices but the bubbles says it's all stealing, when you read
what the Bible says about stealing you will agree with me that there is
hardly a Nigerian including the pastors who is free from this act if
stealing my self inclusive all because if the term? Man must survive. The
NIS job application tragedy that happened of recent where young
Nigerians lost their lives is a clear sign of how bad things have become
in a Nation blessed with both human and natural resources. Our
Government have turned all if us to survivors and not dreamers. All i can
say is May God help Nigeria.
