The Nigerian State security services (SSS) yesterday raided a bomb factory in a house in Barunde area of Gombe.The Secret Police seized 51 rocket launchers, 48 bags of fertiliser, sulphuric acid and cortex items (Being improvised explosive devices).
Related items recovered in the bomb factory includes; detonators, remote control devices, different types of chemicals, six containers for preparation of improvised explosive devices.
Early yesterday, a combined team of State Security Service (SSS) officers and the army carried out similar raid in different areas in Gombe.
The Team discovered 60 Improvised Explosive Devices planted in different locations at the British Cotton Ginnery Area of the metropolis.
Five persons were arrested in the two raids, in what should have been the bloodiest Easter in Nigeria.
Gombe State Director of SSS, Mr Bitrus Asha in his press briefing said that “as you can see, there are a lot of explosives, numbering about 60 prepared in tins, ready for detonation.
So we are lucky that the tins were recovered and you are even advised not to go near the items with your handsets.
Very soon, the items will be defused. We are lucky that we have made the recovery”.
