On Sunday, Venezuela's Ivian Sarcos, 21, was crowned Miss World 2011. At the pageant held at Earls Court in London, the human resources graduate said her ambition is to work with children.
According to the Miss World web site, Sarcos is one 13 children, and currently is employed by a broadcasting company. She said her future ambition was to work with non-governmental organizations and children. Sarcos has already created her own foundation to help youngsters. Her hobbies include mountaineering, trekking and volleyball.The beauty beat out 121 contestants. Despite harsh criticism in recent years as a glorified swimsuit pageant, a quarter of the ladies are graduates and more than half speak three or more languages.
Watched by a billion viewers, the pageant was broadcast live to over 150 countries. Next year's Miss World compeition is scheduled to be held in China's Inner Mongolia.www.mannastores.com
