A PDP chieftain in Sokoto state, Alhaji Muktari Mapia, has appealed to the Federal Government to immediately sensitise Nigerians on the cost-benefits of removing the fuel subsidy.
Mapia made the call in an interview with reporters in Sokoto on Saturday, saying a cost-benefit analysis is imperative at this point in time.www.mannastores.com

``The federal government needs to embark on such a sensitisation now, in view of the negative reactions from Nigerians in most sectors of the nation's economy.
" I am very confident that when Nigerians are fully educated they will totally embrace the move for the common good of our country,'' he said.
Mapia who is the Deputy Treasurer of Sokoto State PDP also urged the federal government to mobilise the stakeholders in the mass media to enlighten Nigerians on the issue.
He said the media stakeholders would enlighten Nigerians on the overwhelming advantages derivable from a total removal of the fuel subsidy.
``Presently, only an insignificant segment of the Nigerian society is benefiting from the fuel subsidy and this is not good,'' the party chieftain claimed.
He noted that lack of awareness among the major Nigerian stakeholders on government's good intentions would militate against government when it eventually removes the fuel subsidy.
The PDP chieftain also called on Nigerians to give maximum support to the transformation agenda of the present administration, saying ``it will ultimately ensure rapid national development''.
On the state of insecurity in Nigeria, Mapia called on government to fashion out a comprehensive security network that would guarantee the safety of all citizens at all times.
He noted that inadequate funding of the nation's security outfits had been rendering the operatives ineffective in combating the menace of social miscreants and their cohorts.
Mapia also advised Nigerians to see the issue of security as a collective responsibility by giving out information on the hide-outs of criminals.
``Nigerians should also report to the security agents any suspicious movement of some individuals who do not mean well for the continued existence of Nigeria as one entity,'' he said.
The politician held the view that prompt reporting of criminal activities to the security agents would ensure the arrest and prosecution of the perpetrators.
"We must co-operate with our security agents by offering vital information that will enable them come out with sensitive security measures that will enhance peaceful co-existence among Nigerians," he said.
