UBA PLC: Bank robbery, bomb blast claim 6 in Ashaka

Three people have been killed during an armed robbery incident which took place late Wednesday evening at the Ashaka branch of the UBA Plc. close to the famous Ashaka Cement Factory. The sad incident occurred just as a bomb blast in the area killed three children. An eyewitness, Gani Adamu said armed men numbering about 10 drove to the area in two unmarked cars, a Honda Accord and Toyota Previa and immediately started shooting sporadically and headed towards the bank.

The eyewitness added that people around the area, on hearing the gunshots, ran for cover as there was pandemonium which gave the armed robbers the opportunity to operate without disturbance.
He added that the robbers could not immediately find their way out of the area as they missed their way signifying they were strangers to the area. He said by the time they found their way it was too late for anybody to stop them just as he said he could not ascertain if they actually took away any amount of money from the bank.
