Kate Middleton pays tribute to Princess Diana in emotional grave visit with William

Prince William has taken Kate Middleton on a emotional visit to his mother's grave just days before the couple are married.
The prince held hands with his fiancée as they walked slowly to the island where Princess Diana was laid to rest.
It is understood that the prince wanted to share his big day with his late mother as he knew how much it would have meant to her.
The couple were sombre as they laid flowers at the island tomb on the 14,000-acre  Althorp Estate in Northamptonshire.
'Diana is still a huge part of her boys’ everyday life and always will be. It is very important for Kate to share and understand William's love and grief for his mum,' a source said.

'It is tragic that she won’t be there to see the wedding, and that she never got to meet his bride.
'But even though Kate never met Diana she knows what an incredible woman she was and it is very important to her she can share and understand William’s love and grief for his mum.'
Diana was killed in a car crash in Paris in 1997 after apparently being chased into a tunnel by paparazzi on motorbikes.
Charles Spencer, William’s uncle and Diana's brother, is said to have known about the visit to the spot that he has turned into a shrine to his late sister.
The entire island was blanketed in thousands of flowers laid well-wishers at the gates to the estate after Diana died.

The Island is a peaceful retreat that is known as The Oval. There is one temple which forms a permanent memorial to the princess.
The royal couple are believed  to have rowed a small boat to the island where Diana is buried.
It was reported that William showed also showed Kate the ancient arboretum  where he and younger brother Harry played when they were children.
The prince has spoken openly in the past of his grief for his mother and he knows that she would have been full of joy at seeing her first child get married.

He wants to try and make sure that his mother is part of the ceremony at Westminster Abbey on April 29.
Earlier this year the Prince, who works at RAF  Valley in Anglesey, revealed how he gave Kate his mother's blue sapphire engagement ring.
