Federal Government Orders Bodies Of Four Nigerians Executed In Indonesia
The Federal Government has condemned the execution of four Nigerians by Indonesian authorities over drug-related offences, despite pleas for clemency by President Goodluck Jonathan, describing it as a disappointment.
The government however extended its condolences to the families of the deceased, demanding the repatriation of the corpses of the executed persons for them to be given a decent burial in their various communities.
FG Approves Edwin Clark's Varsity
The Federal Executive Council on Wednesday approved the establishment of two new private universities in the country. The decision was taken at the weekly meeting of the council, presided over by President Goodluck Jonathan.
One of the new universities is Edwin Clark University located in Kiagbodo, Delta State. The university belongs to Chief Edwin Clark, an Ijaw leader and major supporter of the President.
Clark was also a former Federal Commissioner of Information in the First Republic.
Fuel Scarcity: FG Pays N156bn Fuel Subsidy Claims To Marketers
To halt the current fuel scarcity ravaging the country, the Federal Government yesterday assured it would pay Major Oil Marketers Association of Nigeria (MOMAN) about N156 billion today.
The Coordinating Minister for the Economy and Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo- Iweala,stated this at the World Customs Day event held in Abuja yesterday. The Minister said the payment of N156 billion represents the remaining tranche of the N256.2 billion debt owed MOMAN in subsidy claims.

'It is not a fun job... but we must do it': Indonesia defends executions of Bali Nine duo
Indonesia's Attorney-General said carrying out executions is 'not a fun job' but declared it was necessary to fight drug crime in the country, as he dismissed Australia's withdrawal of its ambassador as a 'momentary reaction'. Muhammad Prasetyo visited Nusakambangan on Wednesday, hours after Bali Nine pair Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran were executed with other drug offenders. 'I would like to say that an execution is not a pleasant thing. It is not a fun job,' he said. 'But we must do it in order to save the nation from the danger of drugs. We are not making enemies of counties from where those executed came. What we are fighting against is drug-related crimes.' Prasetyo shrugged off diplomatic backlash from Australia after Prime Minister Tony Abbott slammed the executions as 'cruel and unnecessary' and announced he would withdraw Australia's ambassador to Indonesia Paul Grigson.
Indonesia executions: Australia recalls ambassador
Australia has recalled its ambassador from Indonesia after two Australian men were executed for drug smuggling.
Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran were among eight people from several countries executed by firing squad shortly after midnight on Wednesday on the prison island of Nusakambangan.
Brazil's government also expressed its "deep dismay" at the execution of one of its citizens, Rodrigo Gularte.
But the execution of a Philippine woman was called off at the last minute.
Mary Jane Fiesta Veloso was spared after her government appealed to Indonesia, saying a woman she had accused of planting drugs on her had handed herself in.

Jonathan, Sambo, Others To Get 3.24bn Severance Pay
PRESIDENT Goodluck Jonathan, Vice-president Namadi Sambo, non-returning federal lawmakers, ministers and presidential aides will collect N3.24bn as severance allowances, investigation by The PUNCH has shown.
The severance allowances are contained in the Remuneration Package put together by the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission.
Dangote To Invest N500bn In Two 550km Gas Pipeline
Chairman, Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote has announced plans to invest about N500 billion, an equivalent of $2.5 billion in the construction of two sub-sea 550-kilometer gas pipelines in Nigeria. The project, according to a report by Bloomberg yesterday, will boost Nigeria’s gas output by three trillion cubic feet per day. Dangote disclosed that the laying of the pipes is expected to begin before the end of the year, adding that the first pipeline should be ready by the middle of 2017.

Another $370m Abacha Loot Traced To Luxembourg – Swiss Ambassador
The Swiss government Monday revealed that $370 million of Nigeria’s money allegedly looted by the former Head of State, Gen. Sani Abacha has been traced to Luxembourg.
The Switzerland Ambassador, Hans Rudolf Hodel revealed this when he paid a courtesy call on the President-elect, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari at the Defence House, Abuja.
Also at the Defence House, an oil magnet, Prince Arthur Eze stated that with the coming of Buhari as president, the oil companies that had left the shores of Nigeria would come back.

Agony of the last goodbye on Bali Nine death row
Australian drug smugglers Andrew Chan (inset left) and Myuran Sukumaran (top right) are set to be executed by firing squad today. The duo are part of the Bali Nine who were convicted in 2005 of plotting to smuggle around 18.2lbs heroin from Indonesia to Australia.
The shooting is planned for this evening despite Indonesia's Constitutional Court agreeing to hear a legal challenge brought by the pair, with a hearing set for May 12. Chan married his fiancée (centre right and left on Sunday) of less than three months inside the prison yesterday, where coffins (bottom right) were seen arriving in the evening. Crosses with the pair's names and a date of death - today - have already been made. Sukumuran has vowed not to wear a blindfold when he faces the firing squad tonight so he can look his killers in the eye.
