Photo: Nigerian kids show off their pinky fingers that mean they have been vaccinated against polio
Some Nigerian kids are
pictured showing off the ink marks on their pinky fingers that mean they have
been vaccinated against polio. Nigeria celebrates reaching two years without a
new case of the wild polio virus today, 24 July 2016. The last Nigerian case of
this crippling disease was on 24 July 2014; the country is well on its way to
being declared polio-free in 2017 if it does not have another case in the next
365 days.
