El-Rufai Defeats SSS In Court Over Anambra State Elections Harassment

Most of you will remember when SSS officials detained and harassed El-Rufai last year November during the last Anambra State Governorship elections? Mr El-Rufai after the harassment approached the court for redress and here’s the outcome.

Almost one year gone, Justice Ibrahim Bature Gafai of the Federal High Court today held that the SSS has no statutory powers under the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 or under any Nigerian law to detain Mr. El-Rufai without showing cause to a court of competent jurisdiction.

The court therefore ordered the SSS to publish an apology in two national dailies for the unlawful and unconstitutional violation of his liberty and also pay him N2 million in damages for unlawful detention.

A Porsche 918 Spyder reportedly owned by Michael Werkerle, the CEO of investment firm Difference Capital and star of CBC's Dragon Den has burned down to ashes at a Canadian gas station.

Witnesses state that gas spilled during the car's refuelling in a Toronto gas station and ignited via the twin exhaust pipes. Those pipes protrude upwards from the engine compartment, rather than exiting out back like most other vehicles. The near-$900,000 Porsche was captured engulfed in flames by various onlookers with their cell phones who could do nothing about the fire.

Just the day before yesterday, photos of Davido and Ghana’s Miss Supranational, 2014, Habiba Sinare, emergedonline and a lot of people have been thinking what could be going on between them. $9.3m Scandal: My Hands Are Clean- Oritsejafor

The president of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, yesterday broke the silence about the controversial $9.3m smuggled into South Africa by two Nigerians and an Israeli, using his private jet, saying his hands are clean.

T.B Joshua May Be Prosecuted By State Government

The Lagos State Government has set up a coroner of inquest for the purpose of investigating the cause of Synagogue’s international guest house which collapsed on Friday, September 12^, 2014 in the church premises. In a statement credited to Lagos State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Ade Ipaye, the coroner of inquest, will be headed by Magistrate O. A. Komolafe, who has been charged with the duty of establishing the cause of the collapse. If found guilty, the Government might necessitate a criminal charge against the church.

A five-year-old boy has tested positive for Cocaine after being found with a bag of the class A drug in his parents' car. Police found the youngster in Ventura County, California, while investigating his dad Marco Cuevas over alleged cocaine deals and knew something was wrong with him.

His father, Cuevas, 31 was later found with several ounces of cocaine on him, with another half-pound found in the car, while is mom Sandy, 29 looked on. $10,000 was also found on his father, which is believed to be suspected drug proceeds. The couple were both arrested on the spot.

Nigeria kicks-off 54th Independence Anniversary Celebration Tomorrow

The Nigerian Government will tomorrow kick-start activities to mark Nigeria’s 54th Independent anniversary. This was disclosed by the Minister of Information, Labaran Maku, while briefing journalists after the weekly FederalExecutive Council, FEC, meeting presided over by Vice President Namadi Sambo.

He said the programme will begin with a Muslim National prayer at the National Mosque, Abuja, tomorrow, Friday 26th of September. The Muslim prayer will be followed by inter-denominational Christian prayer at the National Christian Centre on Sunday.

UPDATE: Ekiti High Court Shut Indefinitely Over Assaulted Judge, Fayose Speaks

The Ekiti State High Court was today shut indefinitely after a High Court Judge was allegedly beaten by Pro-Fayose thugs this morning in the court premises.

The Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice of the State, Mr. Olawale Fapohunda, who frowned at the act, vowed to sue the state governor-elect, Ayodele Fayose, and also hold his lawyers responsible for the act. However, the Governor elect has denied ordering anyone to beat up the said judge.
