Sometimes, we play pranks on producers ? AnekeNollywood twins

Doubling as actresses and producers, Chidinma and Chidiebere Aneke are identical twin acts in Nollywood. Both are graduates of Mass Communication and Business Administration respectively. They open up on certain aspects of their lives and career
Which of you introduced the other to acting or did you catch the bug at the same time?

No, we actually started acting in church in 1999. Our elder sister, Favour Aneke, who is also an actress, was asked to bring us for an audition. We were cast as Pete Edochie’s children after which we left acting to complete our education. We only returned in 2003 and we are in our late 20s.
Were your parents comfortable with acting as a profession?
Yes, because our elder sister was already in the industry so it was not a new thing in the family. In addition, they were rest assured that with her presence and guidance there was no way we were going to go astray.
Did her presence also help you to clinch roles?
Although she played her own part, we would want to attribute whatever we have achieved either individually or as twins to God.
As twins, do you compel producers to feature you in the same movies?
No. What if the producer wants only one person? We have featured in movies separately. For instance I just came back from location in Abia State, while she was recording in Enugu. At the end of the day it is the face you are seeing. People can barely tell the difference between us. Sometimes one of us is invited to location and the other person goes and the producer does not even realise it. To perfect it we even swap our phones so when the producer calls he continues to think he is talking to the right person.
A lot of times you are cast as twins in movies, aren’t you pigeonholed?
We have acted as twins several times but we have also played other roles that have nothing to do with being sisters. As an actress you need to be vast and we try as much as possible to act out any role we are given.
Why have you decided to remain in Enugu when Lagos is where it all happen?
You don’t necessarily have to be in a particular place. We are based in Enugu but we move around the country when it is necessary.
You have turned producers also…
We have produced our movies and we are happy about it. It only goes to show that we have not fared badly.
Twins share a lot of things, what are those things you don’t share?
We go as far as sharing our undies and we dress alike. We have a way of identifying who owns what. If you look under our shoes, you would see our initials. One thing we don’t share is our men. Our father helped us form the habit of dressing alike until his death. Our mother, on the other hand, would rather have us dress in different attire so at least people can tell us apart.
Even our father could not tell us apart. If he calls Chidinma and I know he wants to send me on an errand, I would answer him and then tell him to let me go and call Chidinma, yet it is Chidinma he was talking to.
Are you both dating or engaged to be married?
We are not engaged yet but like every young lady we hope to be married to God fearing men someday. Chidiebere was once in a relationship that I did not approve of because I knew the guy was not right for her. I had to date someone close to him just to get more facts that I later used to convince her that he does not have her interest at heart.
Are you into philanthropy like some of your Nollywood colleagues?
We are coming up with an NGO known as GB Foundation to cater for the less privileged. We want God to use us to bless other people. Already we have been having programmes to achieve this purpose.
